Appendicular lumen is full of neutrophils that extend into wall in between the mucosal associated lymphoid tissue together with lymphocytes and plasma cells. Such infiltrate extends to periappendicular fat. Impacted fecolith is noted. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of appendicular tumors. Lymph nodes shows reactive follicular lymphoid hyperplasia with sinus histicytosis, negative for metastatic deposits.
Acute appendicitis with mesenteric lymph node enlargement.
Appendix measuring 4 x 1 cm with 1.5 cm of attached fat, exhibiting a thickened wall measuring 0.4 cm.
Also received mesenetric lymph node excision biopsy measured 1.4x1 cm.
