Sections examined both lobes and all submitted lymph nodes show almost total replacement of the thyroid tissue by sheets and nodules of intermediate and large sized atypical lymphoid cells with scattered few small immunoblots. Scattered residual degenerated follicular cells with evidence of oxyphil change are see. There is adherent unremarkable parathyroid gland lobe. Overall picture is consistent with NHL complicating pre-existing Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Marker study (CK, CD20,CD3, CD5, CD23, cyclin-D1, CD10 and Ki67 ) is advised for confirmation and definitive subtyping.
