Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Some of submitted fragments showing wall of cyst is lined by parakeratinized stratified squamous cells 5-8 layers in thickness with palisading of the prominent basal layer. Wall of cyst shows focal superficial ulceration with related inflammatory reaction rich in neutrophils, lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Radiolucent lesion in the right third molar region; tissue surrounding the tooth was excised and submitted for histopathological evaluation with a clinical differential diagnosis of Dentigerous Cyst versus Keratocyst.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1x0.8x0.6 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Right third molar region lesion, excision:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Keratocystic odontogenic tumor (= odontogenic keratocyst), inflamed. </strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy.</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><h4><strong><u>Comment</u></strong></h4><h4>This lesion may be locally aggressive with tendency for local recurrence. Hence, follow up is recommended.</h4>
