<p class="ql-align-justify">Smear shows a moderate number of neutrophils and small lymphocytes with few reactive mesothelial cells. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Rt. pleural fluid cytology due to a chest infection complicated by a thick pleural effusion and empyema.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">One smear was prepared and stained from submitted 2 ml pale yellow fluid.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Pleural fluid, cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Moderate inflammatory changes.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignant cells. </strong></li><li><strong>Category II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC.</strong></li></ul>
