Gastric mucosa showing focal superficial erosion, mild infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. There is evidence of inflammatory activity manifested by some neutrophils infiltrating glands. H. pylori forms are not seen. No evidence of intestinal metaplasia, atypia or malignancy.
Patient presented with melena and anemia, with a previous gastroscopy showing a 1 cm bleeding gastric ulcer, followed by a repeat gastroscopy revealing two small (5 mm) ulcers in the antrum with clean bases, from which biopsies were taken.
Soft tissue fragment measured 0.3 cm, totally embedded in one cassete.
