Endometrium is inactive characterized by sparse, widely separated simple tubular and occasionally cystically dilated glands. The glands are lined by a single layer of inactive cuboidal to flattened epithelium, completely lacking mitotic activity and cytologic atypia. The intervening stroma is dense, spindled, and fibrotic, featuring prominent thick-walled blood vessels. There is no evidence of architectural complexity, hyperplasia, or malignancy. Myometrium is unremarkable. Ovaries show corpora albicans. Left tube shows a benign paratubal cyst lined by a single layer of ciliated Müllerian-type epithelium resting on a vascularized fibromuscular wall, consistent with a hydatid cyst of Morgagni. Right tube is unremarkable.
Subtotal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy
Subtotal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy specimen: uterine corpus measured 3.7 x 3.8 x 2.5 cm. Serial sectioning revealed an endometrial lining measuring 0.4 cm, myometrium measuring 1.3 cm in thickness. The right fallopian tube measured 5 cm and right ovary measured 1.5 x 1 x 0.8 cm. The left fallopian tube measured 5.5 cm and left ovary measured 1.3 x 1 x 0.7 cm.
