<p class="ql-align-justify">Intact mucosa with underlying non-capsulated lesion composed of islands of ectopic mature glial tissue with few scattered ganglion like cells separated by dense collagen bundles. In one focus, <span style="color: oklch(0.3039 0.04 213.68); background-color: oklch(0.9902 0.004 106.47);">choroid plexus-like papillae is seen. No evidence of tonsillar parenchymatous tissue. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy and excision looks complete. </span></p>
<p>Rt. Tonsillar mass.</p>
<p>Soft tissue fragment measured 1x1x0.8 cm, having rubbery whitish cut section.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Tonsillar mass, excision:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong style="color: oklch(0.3039 0.04 213.68); background-color: oklch(0.9902 0.004 106.47);">Neuroglial heterotopia (Glial choristoma).</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for tonsillar parenchymatous tissue.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul><p><br></p><h5><strong><u>COMMENT:</u></strong></h5><h5>Complete surgical excision is curative, with low rate of recurrence if not fully removed; no adjuvant therapy needed due to benign nature.</h5>
