Smear is cellular showing a population of small, atypical cells arranged individually and in loose clusters. These cells exhibit high nuclear-to-cytoplasmic ratios, scant cytoplasm, and hyperchromatic nuclei. Focal nuclear molding and occasional angulated/elongated nuclear forms are observed. The background contains amorphous proteinaceous material and rare mature lymphocytes.
Brain tumor with associated hydrocephalus.
One smear was prepared and stained from submitted 3 ml colorless fluid.
