Sections reveal ulcerated fragments of soft tissue replaced by exuberant granulation tissue characterized by a proliferation of plump fibroblasts, edematous stroma, and prominent neovascularization with thin-walled capillaries. A chronic inflammatory infiltrate composed of lymphocytes, plasma cells, and scattered neutrophils is present, accompanied by extensive intracellular and extracellular hemosiderin deposition indicative of prior hemorrhage. No bone trabeculae, marrow elements, or necrotic bone (sequestrum) are identified within the examined material. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
