<p class="ql-align-justify">Three of submitted fragments show atypical round cell infiltrate, showing hyperchromatic nuclei and abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm, others having eccentric nuclei and eosinophilic cytoplasm. These cells are seen related to extensive surface ulceration. Rest of fragments show marked infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. Many neutrophils are seen infiltrating glands with crypt abcessesbthus indicating activity. H. pylori characteristic forms are seen colonizing glands.</p><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p><p class="ql-align-justify">These cells could be histiocytes, epithelial, or lymphoid in nature. Marker study (CD68, CK, LCA, Ki-67 and CD20) is recommended for definitive typing.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Gastric ulcer.</p>
<p>Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Stomach, endoscopic biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>H. pylori-associated active inflammatory ulceration with suspicious atypical round cell infiltrate. </strong></li><li><strong>Recommended for typing by marker study.</strong></li></ul>
