Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">An infiltrative tumor with focal cystic change. It is formed of nests of proliferating ameloblasts exhibiting peripheral palisading of nuclei and central stellate loose </p><p class="ql-align-justify">reticulum. No evidence of malignancy, however this is a locally invasive tumor with liability for local recurrence (which may be delayed) if not adequately excised. </p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Painful five-months retromandibular swelling and an oval osteolytic lesion causing mobility of the lower left second and impacted third molars.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Soft tissue fragments measuring in aggregate 2.5 x 2.2 x 0.7 cm (with the largest fragment measuring 1.7 x 1.5 x 0.7 cm), with a single extracted tooth measuring 1.3 cm.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Lt. mandibular swelling, incision biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Ameloblastoma, conventional. </strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Comment</strong></p><h5 class="ql-align-justify">Considering the locally infiltrative biologic behavior of this neoplasm within the medullary spaces of the jaw and its well-documented propensity for local recurrence following conservative excision, rigorous longitudinal clinico-radiographic surveillance is strongly indicated to monitor for localized disease relapse.</h5>
