Gall bladder wall show moderate to marked fibrosis with extensive mucosal ulceration and moderate to marked infiltration by neutrophils, lymphocytes and plasma cells that extends into the surrounding soft tissue. Glands exhibit focal cystic dilatation and appear to be entrapped within muscular coat (Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses). No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
The patient presented with Mirizzi syndrome and underwent an open cholecystectomy.
Received is an open gallbladder measuring 6.5 x 2.5 cm, showing an ulcerated mucosa of and a thickened wall measuring 0.4 cm.
