Sections of the resected Meckel’s diverticulum reveal a transmural inflammatory process characterized by a dense, mixed infiltrate of neutrophils, lymphocytes, and plasma cells. The architecture exhibits mucosal ulceration, vascular congestion, and interstitial edema consistent with acute diverticulitis. Notable areas of wall disruption are associated with a thick fibrinopurulent exudate on the serosal surface, indicative of perforation. No granulomas, parasitic elements, ectopic gastric mucosa, or malignancy are identified.
Suspected perforated Meckel’s diverticulum.
Soft tissue piece measured 1.3x0.8x0.7 cm, totally embedded.
