<p class="ql-align-justify">Submitted fragments show an adenomatous polypoid lesion formed of hyperplastic gastric glands with reduced mucigenicity and mild nuclear enlargement. In one of the fragments constituting glands appear to be crowded, focally cribriform and lined by several layers of atypical columnar cells with enlarged hyperchromatic nuclei. This is consistent with focal malignant change (intramucosal neoplasia). Stroma is fibrotic and shows mild chronic inflammatory reaction composed of lymphocytes and plasma cells. Adequate complete excision of the polypoidal mass with its base is advised as such lesion is precancerous and to exclude the possibility of concomitant invasive growth.</p>
<p>Known case of HTN complain of dysphagia and epigastric pain. Gastroscopy: polyp in the antrum area ~ 2 cm.</p>
<p>Received specimen in formalin fixative consists four fragments of soft tissue pieces measuring 0.8 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm, totally embedded in one cassette.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Gastric polyp, Endoscopic Biopsy: </u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Focal malignant change in an adenomatous polyp (intramucosal neoplasia). </strong></li><li><strong>Recommended for adequate excision of polyp to exclude concomitant invasive malignant change.</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><u>COMMENT:</u></strong></p><h5>Adequate complete excision of the polypoidal mass with its base is advised as such lesion is precancerous and to exclude the possibility of concomitant invasive growth.</h5>
