Focally ulcerated gastric mucosa with related dense inflammatory reaction rich in neutrophils and plasma cells. Among such inflammatory infiltrate, small and intermediate sized atypical lymphoid cells are seen. Such infiltrate was seen replacing and surrounding residual gastric glands. Some foci show related H-pylori associated active atrophic gastritis. No evidence of intestinal metaplasia. Picture is suspicious but inconclusive of MALT lymphoma complicating a pre-existing H. pylori-associated chronic gastritis. Further confirmation by immunohistochemistry (CD3, CD20 and Ki-67) is recommended.
Extensive gastric ulcers.
