<p class="ql-align-justify">Sixteen lymph node show preserved normal nodal pattern and hyperplasia of the lymphoid follicles which retain active and intact germinal centers with tingible body macrophages. Sinuses are expanded by numerous benign histiocytes consistent with sinus histiocytosis and anthracosis. There is associated inflammatory cell infiltrate in subcapsular areas of lymph node with extension into perinodal fibrofatty tissue. No evidence of specific granulomas.No evidence of malignancy. </p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">A patient presenting with acute abdominal pain for one day who underwent surgery for a clinical diagnosis of acute appendicitis, during which intraoperative findings revealed a catarrhal appendix along with multiple enlarged lymph nodes in the mesentery of the large and small intestines, prompting a mesenteric lymph node biopsy for histopathological evaluation.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Multiple lymph nodes collectively measured 3x2.8x1 cm, the largest measured 1.5x1 cm.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Mesenteric Lymph nodes, excision biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Reactive follicular lymphoid hyperplasia with sinus histiocytosis and lymphadenitis with periadenitis. </strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul>
