Diagnosis
<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Gastric mucosa showing moderate infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. Neutrophils are seen infiltrating glands thus indicating activity. H. pylori characteristic forms are seen colonizing glands. No evidence intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia or malignancy.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Duodenal mucosa shows focal moderate villous atrophy associated i<span style="color: rgb(0, 29, 53);">ntraepithelial lymphocytosis and crypt hyperplasia </span>with submucosal mild infiltrate of lymphocytes and plasma cells. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy. </li></ul>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Gastric antral mucosa hyperemia and edema with partial mucosal atrophy in second part of duodenum.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Two biopsies were received:</p><p class="ql-align-justify">1. Gastric: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.6x0.5 cm, totally embedded.</p><p>2. Duodenal: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.6x0.5 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<h3><strong><em><u>Stomach, endoscopic biopsy:</u></em></strong></h3><ul><li><strong>H. pylori-associated chronic follicular gastritis with minimal inflammatory activity.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia or malignancy.</strong></li></ul><h3><strong><em><u>Duodenal endoscopic biopsy:</u></em></strong></h3><ul><li><strong>Focal moderate villous atrophy with associated chronic non-specific duodenitis, consistent with celiac disease. Modified Marsh-Oberhuber classification, grade B1.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul><h6><br></h6><h4><strong><u>COMMENT:</u></strong></h4><h5>Confirmatory correlation with clinical and laboratory chemical investigations is advised.</h5>
