Fragments of skin and specialized acral/nail bed epithelium exhibiting prominent compact hyperkeratosis, focal parakeratosis, and irregular epidermal acanthosis. The underlying dermis is characterized by areas of dense, thickened fibrous connective tissue, which is consistent with scarring and reactive changes from the previously reported resection. Within this fibrotic stroma, there is a mild, patchy chronic inflammatory infiltrate composed primarily of lymphocytes, mostly localized around small blood vessels and deep eccrine adnexal structures. No evidence of cellular atypia, viral cytopathic changes, or invasive malignancy.
Recurrent left thumb pain and swelling four months post-resection. Current procedure involves a nail extraction and partial nail bed resection.
Two soft tissue fragments 1.7x1 cm, and 1.5x1 cm, totally embedded.
