Sections show an invasive salivary gland carcinoma formed of irregular groups of large malignant cells exhibiting focal glandular differentiation. In minor areas, tumor is formed of distended ducts, lined by the same tumor cells. Tumor cells have abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm with large vesicular nuclei and prominent nucleoli. Anaplasia and mitosis are marked and areas of necrosis are seen. Tumor appears to extends to surrounding margins of excision. Nearby salivary tissue shows mild sialosis.

Salivary gland measured 5x4.5x2.5 cm, serial sectioning revealed solid greyish firm mass measuring 3.7x3.5x2.3 cm.
