Gastric mucosa showing superficial erosions with mild atrophy of glands and mild infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. There is evidence of inflammatory activity manifested by neutrophils infiltrating glands. H. pylori characteristic forms are seen. No evidence of intestinal metaplasia, atypia or malignancy.
Duodenal mucosa showing mild infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells with follicles. Villi are intact and are negative for atrophy and ulceration. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of malignancy.
Gastric antral ulcer with clean base, and duodenal biopseis to rule out celiac disease.
Two biopsies were received:
1- Stomach: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.7 cm, totally embedded in one cassette.
2- Duodenum: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.7 cm, totally embedded in one cassette.
