<p class="ql-align-justify">Section shows lymphoid tissue with hyperplasia of the lymphoid follicles which retain active and intact germinal centers with tingible body macrophages. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of malignancy. CD20 stains follicles and some interfollicular small cells. CD3 stains small cells outside of the follicles and few small cells within the follicles. This is confirmatory for the reactive nature of this lymph node.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">3-month history of a right subconjunctival soft tissue mass that originates from the lateral rectus muscle insertion.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Soft tissue mass measured 1.5x1.2x1 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<p><strong><u>Rt. Subconjunctival soft tissue mass, </u><em><u>biopsy and immunostaining: </u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Subconjunctival benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia (BRLH).</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy.</strong></li></ul><h5><br></h5><h5><strong><u>COMMENT:</u></strong></h5><h5>Subconjunctival benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia (BRLH) is recognized entity in children, though rare but represent an ectopic lymphoid aggregate reacting to local antigenic stimulation-not truly originating from the rectus muscle but rather from subconjunctival lymphoid tissue adjacent to it. It is self limiting condition and may resolve spontaneously or with topical/systemic steroids.</h5>
