1- Polypoid lesion composed of hyperplastic endocervical mucous glands with Nabothian cysts and covered by focally ulcerated columnar endocervical epithelium with related areas of squamous metaplasia. Stroma is fibrotic and vascular and shows focal infiltration by inflammatory cells. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
2- Irregular shedding of endometrium, glands are secretory, hypersecretory or disordered proliferative. The non-secretory glands are branching or star-shaped. Stroma is cellular. Picture may be due to a persistent corpus luteum or irregular hormone therapy. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Heavy menstrual bleeding and dysmenorrhea.
Two specimens were received:
1- A polypoid soft tissue mass measuring 1.5x1x1cm showing, totally embedded.
2-Bloody soft tissue pieces collectively measuring 2.5x2x0.7cm, totally embedded.
