Diagnosis
<p>Thyroid gland shows focal dense infiltration by lymphocytes amounting at the formation of lymphoid follicles with intact active germinal centers. Related follicles are degenerated with evidence of oxyphil change of the follicular epithelium. No evidence of malignancy or hyperfunction. </p>
<p>Multinodular goiter.</p>
<p>Total thyroidectomy specimen submitted two lobes measure 6 x 4 x 2.5 cm and 5.5 x 3 x 2.5 cm. Cut sections showing multiple grey nodules, with the largest measuring 1.7 x 1.5 cm. Thyroid capsule is intact.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Total thyroidectomy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Hashimoto's thyroiditis.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul>
