Colonic mucosa shows patchy chronic inflammation with focal surface erosion, lamina propria expanded by lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates and lymphoid aggregates, and scattered poorly-formed non-caseating granulomas away from the crypts; crypt architecture is preserved and no crypt abscesses are identified.
Known case of crohns disease. Colonoscopy revealed edematous erythematous mucosa with linear aphthous ulcers in rectum and sigmoid.
