Gall bladder wall shows moderate fibrosis with focal mucosal ulceration and dense infiltration by neutrophils, lymphocytes and plasma cells that extends into the surrounding soft tissue. Glands exhibit focal cystic dilatation and appear to be entrapped within muscular coat (Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses). This inflammatory reaction is seen extending to serosal surface. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Acute cholecystitis
Gall bladder received open measuring 6x2.5 cm, showing ulcerated mucosa and thickened wall up to 0.6 cm, with multiple stones up to 1 cm.
