Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Thyroid gland shows focal dense infiltration by lymphocytes amounting at the formation of lymphoid follicles with intact active germinal centers. Related follicles are degenerated with evidence of oxyphil change of the follicular epithelium. No evidence of malignancy or hyperfunction. </p>
<p>Total thyroidectomy</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Total thyroidectomy specimen showing first lobe measuring 6.5x3x2.3 cm, second lobe measuring 6x3x2.2 cm and isthmus measured 1x1 cm. Thyroid capsule is intact. Serial sectioning revealed multiple nodules largest measured 0.6 cm and some are rubbery.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Total thyroidectomy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Hashimoto's thyroiditis. </strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul>
