Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Hemorrhagic preparations show mild inflammatory cellularity composed of scattered neutrophils and small lymphocytes, admixed with few reactive mesothelial cells. Occasional hemosiderin-laden macrophages are identified, consistent with prior or ongoing hemorrhage. No cytologic evidence of atypia or malignancy is seen.</p>
<p>Lt. sided pleural effusion.</p>
<p>Two slides were submitted and stained.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Pleural fluid, cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Hemorrhagic fluid with mild inflammatory changes. </strong></li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Negative for malignant cells.</strong></li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Category II (Negative for malignancy) according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytopathology (TIS).</strong></li></ul>
