Some of submitted fragments showing esophageal biopsy shows focal glandular metaplasia of the covering squamous epithelium. Glands are of the gastric type and there is related mild infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. Other fragments showing gastric mucosa body type showing mild atrophy of glands and moderate infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. Some neutrophils are seen infiltrating glands indicating activity. H. pylori characteristic forms are seen colonizing glands. No evidence of intestinal metaplasia, atypia or malignancy.
