A benign exophytic mucosal lesion, formed of broad papillary formations of hyperplastic and acanthotic stratified squamous epithelium. Submucosa shows infiltration by few lymphocytes and plasma cells. Squamous cells show koilocytosis indicative of HPV infection. No evidence of atypia or malignancy
Tongue and buccal mucosal lesions.
Two biopsies were received:
1- Buccal mucosa: two soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.9x0.7x0.5 cm, totally embedded.
2- Tongue: soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.8x0.6x0.5 cm, totally embedded.
