Submitted material dominantly shows intact hyperplastic esophageal squamous epithelium with focal ulceration and related dense inflammatory cell infiltrate rich in neutrophils, lymphocytes, plasma cells with many cell debris. The residual non-ulcerated area shows moderate reparative dysplasia. No evidence of glandular metaplasia. Picture is consistent with severe GERD. No evidence of malignancy.
