Duodenal mucosa shows broadening with focal flattening of villi indicating atrophy. Submucosa is moderately infiltrated by lymphocytes and plasma cells. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of atypia or malignancy. Picture is consistent with celiac disease and According to modified Marsh-Oberhuber classification, it is grade B1 / type 2.
Anemia. Endoscopy: congested duodenal mucosa with mild scalloping of the duodenal folds.
Soft tissue pieces collectively measuring 0.7x0.6 cm, totally embedded in one cassette.
Duodenal endoscopic biopsy:
Moderate chronic non-specific inflammation with focal moderate villous atrophy, consistent with celiac disease.
Modified Marsh-Oberhuber classification, grade B1 .

Confirmatory correlation with clinical and laboratory chemical investigations is advised.
