Gallbladder wall shows marked fibrosis with extensive mucosal ulceration, transmural acute and chronic inflammatory infiltrate composed of neutrophils, lymphocytes, and plasma cells, extending into the surrounding soft tissue, with areas of gangrenous necrosis and perforation. Glands show focal cystic dilatation and are entrapped within the muscular coat (Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses). No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
