Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Smears are hemorrhagic and show many small and large tight clusters of large atypical cells with hyperchromatic nuclei. Some of these clusters showing focal glandular formations and exhibit moderate anaplasia. Background shows a moderate number of mature small lymphocytes and neutrophils with some reactive mesothelial cells.</p>
<p>Recurrent Pleural effusion in known case with ovarian cancer.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Two smears were prepared and stained from submitted 50 ml brownish fluid.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Pleural fluid, cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Positive for malignant tumor cells, consistent with metastatic adenocarcinoma of primary ovarian origin.</strong></li><li><strong>(Category V according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC). </strong></li></ul>
