(1) A benign bone lesion composed of vascular-like dilated spaces surrounding by compressed fibrotic stroma showing focal interstitial hemorrhage with very occasional osteoclastic type giant cells. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of malignancy. Confirmatory correlation with radiological findings is recommended.
(2) Cytologic preparations of the associated fluid demonstrate a bloody background containing scattered multinucleated giant cells and small clusters of mononuclear cells, negative for malignant cells.
Large expansile lytic lesion of the left maxilla and hard palate that extensively involves the adjacent sinonasal and orbital cavities (causing mild left eye proptosis), suspicious for an odontogenic tumor or cyst.
Two samples were received:
1- Tissue biopsy: soft tissue and bone fragments collectively measured 3x2.3x1.2 cm, totally embedded.
2- Lesional fluid; 10 ml pale yellow turbed fluid, one smear was prepared and pap stained.
