Appendicular lumen is full of neutrophils that extend into wall in between the mucosal associated lymphoid tissue together with lymphocytes and plasma cells. Such infiltrate extends to periappendicular fat. No evidence of specific granulomas. No evidence of appendicular tumors.
Lymph node shows reactive lymphoid hyperplasia with chronic non-specific lymphadenitis and periadenitis.
Acute Appendicitis .
Appendicectomy specimen measured 6 cm long, showing mucosal ulceration with wall thickness up to 0.4 cm. A separate lymph node was received measuring 1x0.8 cm.
