<p>Specimen Site: Tongue.</p><p>Type of operation: Wider excision.</p><p>Histologic Type: Verrucous Squamous Cell Carcinoma.</p><p>Tumor Size: 2.1 cm (greatest dimension, in original excision biopsy).</p><p>Depth of Invasion (DOI): 1.7 cm (17 mm).</p><p>Lymphovascular Invasion (LVI): Not identified.</p><p>Perineural Invasion (PNI): Not identified.</p><p>Margin Status: All negative.</p><p><strong>Pathologic Staging (AJCC 8th Edition)</strong></p><p>Primary Tumor (pT): pT3</p><ul><li>Although the tumor diameter is 2.5 cm (T2 by size), a DOI greater than 10 mm upstages it to T3.</li></ul><p>Regional Lymph Nodes (pN): pNX.</p><p>No lymph nodes submitted for evaluation.</p><p>Distant Metastasis (pM): pMX.</p><p>Not assessed.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Wider excision of tongue verrocous squamous cell carcinoma with positive margin ( pathology number 2976-2026 on 5 May 2026).</p>
<p>Three specimens were received for examination:</p><ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Specimen 1: designated as wider excision, received oriented for margins: consisted of a soft tissue piece measuring 2 x 1.7 x 1 cm, which exhibited an ulcerated grey area measuring 1.5 x 1.2 cm. The lesion was located 0.3 cm from the superior margin, 0.2 cm from the inferior margin, 0.3 cm from the medial margin, and 0.3 cm from the lateral margin.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Specimen 2: designated as extraposterior margin 12 o'clock: consisted of one grey soft tissue piece measuring 0.7 x 0.5 cm, totally embedded.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Specimen 3: designated as extra medial margin 3 o'clock consisted of one soft tissue piece measuring 1.1 x 0.6 x 0.3 cm, totally embedded.</li></ul>
