<p class="ql-align-justify">Smear show dense population of neutrophils with some small lymphocytes as well as many cell debris. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Turbid ascitic/pelvic fluid aspirated from a patient with a history of DM, chronic liver disease, renal failure and HCV+, following a recent strangulated hernia repair.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">One slide was prepared and stained from submitted 30 ml turbed yellow fluid.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Ascitic fluid, cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Marked (suppurative) inflammatory changes.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignant cells.</strong></li><li><strong>Category II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC.</strong></li></ul>
