Both samples showing partially ulcerated mucosa with related invasive carcinoma showing irregular, crowded glands lined by malignant columnar cells exhibiting moderate anaplasia and mitosis. In some fragment, tumor is related to surface intact squamous epithelium of lower esophagus. A dense inflammatory infiltrate and focal desmoplastic response are present in the surrounding stroma.
Large fungating and friable mass at the gastroesophageal junction extending to the cardia.
Two undesignated biopsies were received:
A. Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1 cm, totally embedded.
B. Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.6 cm.
