Microscopic Description
Diagnosis
<p>1- Non-capsulated tumor composed of alternating lobules of mature adipose tissue and streaks of fibrous tissue composed of irregular short bundles of spindle cells. Bundles show mild to moderate cellularity. No evidence of mitotic activity or atypia.</p><p>2- A non-capsulated tumor formed of irregular bundles of proliferating fibroblasts with abundant collagen in the stroma. Tumor cellularity is variable but it is generally mild. Anaplasia is minimal and mitosis is not active. No evidence of malignancy</p>
<p>Abdominal wall mass with omental mass, S/P Rt hemicolectomy for peritoneal mass diagnosed mass inflammatory process.</p>
<p>Two specimens were received:</p><p>1- Omentectomy: fatty tissue measured 4.5x3.8x2 cm.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">2- Abdominal wall mass: fibrofatty tissue measuring 7.5x5.5x4.5 cm; sectioning revealed fairly defined whitish, rubbery to firm mass measuring 7x5.3x4.2 cm.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Omental soft tissue mass, excision:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Lipofibromatosis</strong></li><li><strong>Margins are close.</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><em><u>Abdominal soft tissue mass, excision:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Fibromatosis (Desmoid tumor). </strong></li><li><strong>Margin are close.</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><u>COMMENT:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Tumor appears to extend to margins of excision, hence local recurrence is a great possibility.</li><li>Follow up is recommended.</li></ul>
