Submitted material is dominantly formed of clotted blood, decidualized endometrial stroma and hypersecretory endometrium with few fragments showing hyperplastic cyto and syncytiotrophoblastic cells exhibiting mild to moderate atypia. No evidence of fetal tissues or chorionic villi. Molar pregnancy is a great possibility. However, persistent trophoblastic disease cannot be completely excluded in absence of villi. Correlation with sonographic findings to exclude the presence of uterine mass lesion and close monitoring of serum level of beta hCG till normalization are essential for the differentiation.
Missed abortion
