<p class="ql-align-justify">Smear shows a marked number of degenerated neutrophils and small lymphocytes with many cell debris and few reactive mesothelial cells. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells.</p>
<p>Pleural effusion.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">One smear was prepared and pap stained from submitted 20 ml greyish fluid with pus.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Pleural fluid, cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Marked (suppurative) inflammatory changes. </strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignant cells.</strong></li><li><strong>Category Class II according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytopathology.</strong></li></ul>
