<p class="ql-align-justify">Preparations show many small and large ball clusters of cohesive atypical epithelial cells admixed with reactive mesothelial cells and moderate background of small lymphocytes with few neutrophils. In view of patient's past history, picture of metastatic adenocarcinoma, most likely of breast primary origin.</p>
<p>Pleural effusion, history of breast cancer.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">One smear was prepared and stained from submitted 10 ml pale yellow fluid.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Pleural fluid, conventional cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Positive for metastatic adenocarcinoma, grade 2, most likely from the previously diagnosed breast cancer.</strong></li><li><strong>(Category V according to The International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytology, ISRSFC).</strong></li></ul>
