<p class="ql-align-justify">Esophageal biopsy shows focal glandular metaplasia of the covering squamous epithelium. Glands are of the gastric type and there is related mild infiltration by lymphocytes and plasma cells. No evidence of atypia or malignancy. </p>
<p>Biopsy of a short segment ('short tongue') of Barrett's esophagus.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 0.9 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Esophageal endoscopic biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Metaplastic columnar epithelium (Barrett's esophagus, gastric type). </strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p>
