Most of the submitted material is composed of gastric mucosal fragments with H. pylori-associated moderate chronic atrophic gastritis with associated moderate activity. Few fragments showed ulcerated gastric mucosal fragment with related infiltration by malignant large epithelial cells, arranged in small groups and having irregular hyperchromatic nuclei and eosinophilic or clear cytoplasm. Such cells form solid sheets with few areas of glandular differentiation and focal signet ring morphology. Anaplasia and mitosis are moderate to marked. Picture is consistent with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma.
Extensive distal esophageal ulcerations and an ulcerated prepyloric mucosal mass.
Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1.2 cm, totally embedded.
