<p class="ql-align-justify">Smears show a dense population of neutrophils with some small lymphocytes as well as many cell debris. No evidence of atypical or malignant cells.</p>
<p>Lt pleural effusion, conventional cytology.</p>
<p>Three slides were prepared from submitted 60 ml orange-colored fluid.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Pleural fluid, cytology:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Suppurative inflammatory changes (empyema).</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignant cells.</strong></li><li><strong>Category II according to International system for reporting serous fluid cytopathology.</strong></li></ul>
