<p class="ql-align-justify">Sections examined from the large nodule show encapsulated tumor formed of small and large follicles lined by relatively large follicular cells having abundant eosinophilic and granular cytoplasm. Stroma is rather delicate and vascular with areas of interstitial hemorrhage. Adjacent thyroid tissue is compressed. Tumor capsule is well developed withlut evidence of capsular infiltration Rest of thyroid gland shows nodular hyperplasia where follicles are variable in size, full of thick colloid and lined by mature epithelium. No evidence of hyperfunction or malignancy.</p>
<p>Anterior neck swelling diagnosed as thyroid goiter involving Rt. thyroid lobe. FNAC revealed Hashimoto thyroiditis.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">The right hemithyroidectomy specimen measured 4.8x3x2.5 cm with an attached part of the isthmus measuring 1.5 cm in its greatest dimension. Serial sectioning revealed replacement of most of the right lobe by a hemorrhagic, rubbery, whitish nodule measuring 4.5x2.8x2.5 cm.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Right hemithyroidectomy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Oncocytic (Hurthle cell) adenoma.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul>
