Diagnosis
<p class="ql-align-justify">Sections show fragments of non-viable bone (sequestrum) exhibiting empty osteocytic lacunae. The surrounding fibrovascular stroma features active granulation tissue, fibrosis, and dense mixed acute and chronic inflammation composed of neutrophils, lymphocytes, plasma cells, and histiocytes. Foci of suppurative necrosis, hemorrhage, and hemosiderin deposition are also noted. There is no evidence of dysplasia or malignancy.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Chronic abscess with necrotic tissue.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1.8x1.7x1.5 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>Bone and soft tissue, biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li><strong>Necrotic devitalized bone with associated suppurative osteomyelitis.</strong></li><li><strong>Negative for malignancy. </strong></li></ul>
