Microscopic Description
Diagnosis
<ul><li class="ql-align-justify">Polypoid lesion composed of hyperplastic endocervical mucous glands and Nabothian cysts, covered by focally ulcerated columnar endocervical epithelium. Stroma is fibrotic and vascular and shows moderate infiltration by inflammatory cells. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.</li><li>Endometrium is hyperplastic and non-secretory. It is formed of moderately branching glands separated by cellular stroma and lined by 1-2 layers of cells. No evidence of complex glandular pattern. No evidence of atypia or malignancy. </li></ul>
<p class="ql-align-justify">Abnormal uterine bleeding, cervical polyp and thickened endometrium.</p>
<p>Two samples were received:</p><p class="ql-align-justify">1- Cervical polyp: received as two soft tissue fragments collectively measured 1.5x1.2x0.8 cm, totally embedded.</p><p class="ql-align-justify">2- D & C biopsy: bloody soft tissue fragments collectively measured 4x3x0.5 cm, totally embedded.</p>
<p class="ql-align-justify"><strong><em><u>Cervical polyp, excision:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Inflamed hyperplastic endocervical polyp with Nabothian cysts.</strong></li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Negative for atypia. </strong></li></ul><p class="ql-align-justify"><strong><em><u>D & C biopsy:</u></em></strong></p><ul><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Moderate simple endometrial hyperplasia</strong></li><li class="ql-align-justify"><strong>Negative for atypia. </strong></li></ul>
