Sections show gastric mucosa with polypoid foveolar hyperplasia, characterized by elongated, tortuous, and cystically dilated pits. The lamina propria is edematous and expanded by a mild chronic inflammatory infiltrate composed of lymphocytes and plasma cells, accompanied by mild glandular atrophy. There is mild active inflammation with scattered neutrophils infiltrating the foveolar and glandular epithelium. Focal intestinal metaplasia is identified. Examination of the luminal surface and mucus layers reveals curvilinear, rod-shaped bacterial organisms consistent with Helicobacter pylori. No evidence of atypia or malignancy.
Endoscopy: the entire gastric mucosa looks mildly hyperemic with mildly atrophic antral mucosa, about 6-8 corporal polyps, the largest one about 2cm with ulcer on top, three of them (the largest) removed.???
Two polyps 0.6 and 0.8 cm, totally embedded.
