Ovary shows extensive devitalization of ovarian tissue with marked interstitial hemorrhage (hemorrhagic infarct) and dilated congested blood vessels. Rest of ovarian tissue shows multiple cysts having fibrous wall with extensive interstitial hemorrhage, mostly devoid of epithelial lining but some are focally lined by one or more layers of follicular epithelial cells. No evidence of atypia or malignancy. Picture is consistent with ovarian strangulation.
Ovarian tortion
Ovary measuring 4.5 x 3 x 2.5 cm with a smooth outer surface and areas of hemorrhage. It exhibits multiple small cysts, the largest measuring 1 cm.
